Folklore, Figurative, and The Feminine
the art of Christine Pike, MA
My work speaks to the quiet-voiced, the overlooked, the hidden - and says : "You are noticed, you are valued, you are loved."
Workshops:
Would you like to try out a new creative skill or brush up an old one?
In 2023 I will teaching a range of sculpting workshops using paperclay. The sessions will be pitched at different skill levels, from total beginner to experienced sculptor. If you are unsure whether a particular workshop would be suitable for you, please contact me before booking.
With the exception of Higham Hall, all workshops will be booked directly through me. Unless otherwise stated all workshops will be held in Downham Market, Norfolk. If you would like me to come to you to teach a class I am happy to travel anywhere in the UK, so long as you can provide a venue and at least four participants. I also offer one-to-one 'creative kickstart' full day sessions at my studio for £100.
For details of how to book, or any other queries, please email me
New for 2023!
New Ways with Non-Fire Clays:
I am delighted to be returning to Higham Hall next year to teach a 4-day workshop. This time we will be working with paperclay instead of pottery clay - so you will be able to take your sculpture home with you at the end of the course.
In this course you will learn how to make a seated figure, built over an armature.

OR Heads and Faces in Paperclay
Would you like to try a new creative skill - or build on ones you already have?
In this fun, relaxed day you will learn about paperclay - and how to make your own! - and explore various different methods for making figurative sculptures.
Introduction to paperclay - open to all abilities
For those who already have some experience with sculpting, Christine is also offering the opportunity to spend the day focusing on heads and faces. An intensive day where you will explore your own style and experiment with creating character and personality. You should end up with several heads in various stages (including one completed head) that you can take home to continue working on.
All materials are included in the cost of both workshops. Tea and coffee will be freely available, but please bring a packed lunch.
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible and there is plenty of parking. It is also a short walk from the mainline railway station and the town.
